Protecting and Restoring the Park
HPLA’s Park Committee
The purpose of the Park Committee is to improve and restore Central Park in order to provide a setting that elevates Poplar Lawn, encourages more foot-traffic, increases safety and creates a sense of community pride for not only those who live within walking distance, but for Petersburg as a whole. The Committee, while working with the community and the board, will develop recommendations and budgets to address core steps to achieve its purpose. Suggested steps may include but are not limited to developing a park plan, replanting of trees, restoring of trails and the park center, improving drainage and lighting, maintaining and cleaning of the park, etc. The committee will work with the board in the planning, development and resolution of it’s recommendations.
